USDA Undersecretary Ted McKinney Visits Guatemala
The Undersecretary of Commerce and Foreign Affairs, Ted McKinney, visited Guatemala accompanied by an Agricultural Trade Mission of 34 companies from the United States. The group of entrepreneurs from the United States was in Guatemala as part of the Mission that seeks to bring leading companies in the agricultural sector of the United States with commercial partners from the Northern Triangle, consisting of Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras. US businessmen met with more than 70 companies in the region with the hope of making commercial alliances that lead, in the long term, to an increase in agricultural trade among the countries.
As part of his agenda, Assistant Secretary McKinney met with representatives of the Government of Guatemala to emphasize the desire of the United States to expand its trade relations with Guatemala and highlight the importance of reforming the import and export requirements that may prevent trade from be a critical component in the relationship between both States.
